Geotechnical Engineering
The SGC Geotechnical Engineering staff has combined experience in excess of 50 years related to geotechnical engineering. We perform geotechnical studies for a wide variety of public and private improvements including high-rise buildings, low-rise commercial buildings, schools, residential subdivisions, shopping centers, bridges, hospitals, roadways, pipelines, storm water detention/retention ponds, water quality structures and high hazard dams. Our engineers have extensive experience in evaluating cost-effective earthwork, soil chemical treatment, foundation design, earth retaining structures, and pavement design alternatives. Our geotechnical investigations use a variety of site exploratory techniques including exploratory drilling, dynamic cone penetration testing, test excavations, cone penetration testing, and geophysical methods (seismic refraction surveys).
