Dollar General Site
Project Description
Southern Geotechnical Consultants, LLC (SGC) provided geotechnical design, environmental assessment and construction materials testing services in association with a new Dollar General in Sumter, South Carolina. As part of the geotechnical design services, soil test borings and applicable laboratory analysis were performed at the site to help assess the nature of the subsurface materials and provide needed soil design paraments. As part of the environmental services, we performed a Phase I Environmental Assessment.
During construction, SGC provided all construction materials testing and “Special Inspections” services related to the project including monitoring and testing as required by the project specifications in conjunction with mass grading and building construction. The testing/evaluations performed during the earthwork phase included soil stability evaluations, in-place density testing for the building pad, and utility backfill. During the building construction phase the testing/evaluations included shallow foundation and subgrade evaluations; inspections of reinforcing steel placement; bolt torque and visual weld inspections; concrete strength; floor flatness and NPDES inspections.
